My Approach to Freedom Festival 2024

My Focuses for Redesigning the Freedom Festival

Brand Identity

A brand is nothing without its identity so the first step when redesigning is to establish a base colour set, art style and the message we want the brand to represent. This planning helps inform the whole design process allowing for the brand to become incredibly consistent across all mediums. For example here is a proposed brand identity i came up with in class:

Multi Channel Marketing

As previously mentioned the use of social media and interactivity through multiple channels is majorly important, especially for a cultural/ social event like the Freedom Festival. Reimagined with the new branding/ colour scheme as seen here. Keeping the brand identity consistent between these channels like Instagram, Facebook and the website is the cornerstone of a healthy brand identity so in my redesign I’d likely just change the brand and post imagery to match the new ideas, as the current Freedom Festival social media are mostly consistent between each other already.

The Digital Experience

When it comes to the Freedom Festival’s online experience I found it quite boring there are little to no interactive elements of gifs currently in use. Therefore in my redesign, I would likely use more motion and maybe include their survey in a more prominent place rather than hidden in a link. The idea of including motion in the design works quite well with the message of freedom. Objects on the site could move around and interact more freely to resemble the event breaking out of the norms and expressing your freedom and creativity. This could be achieved using gifs, interactable elements on the websites, social media polls, scrolling effects on the website etc in order to increase the interactability on the website and get people engaged with the event before even needing to attend. It also gives the opportunity for the brand to express its creativity which could be a big selling point for an art festival.

Recognisable Art style

One thing i believe would help the freedom festival stand out would be a recognisable artstyle. So in my redesign i would consider creating a design style recognisable to the event to use on promotion material, Advertisements, posts, and merchandise for the festival, potentially even having a mascot of some sort that represents the event as many well known brands do.
