Cave Paintings
(30,000 BCE)
The Early cave paintings were the first in art history, often coming in bold reds, blacks and featuring simple but recognisable shapes and lines. These types of paintings often represented stories from the artist or their family mostly to do with hunting.
1) Chad: prehistoric cave art (no date)
My interpretation
Based on the original cave design i took the colour pallette with a play on the idea of cave art being in a cave and aplied it to a gym website format as many gyms often promote a more primal urge to be big and strong i thought this is well suited for the reinterpretation.

Egyptian hieroglyphics (3,200 BCE)
The Characteristics of Ancient Egiptian Art/language are long straight edges, simple shapes, coming together to form a larger symbol, representing a different meaning for each.
2) Blanchard, G. (2015)
My interpretation
Based on the original hieroglyphics design i took the symbol style elements and applied it to create an architect website using recognisable icons to mimic the meanings of ancient hieroglyphics being known just like we know these symbols.

Gothic architecture
(12th-16th century)
Characterised by tall buildings with detailed designs, pointed arches, hard edges, stained glass windows, religious art and lots of triangles.
3) Mortel, R (2019)
My interpretation
Based on the original design characteristics I decided to try to use the triangular but high detail style applying it to an experience booking website.

Leonardo da Vinci
(1452-1519)
Da Vinci and his Sketches were one of the great artists of the renaissance period, defined by his high detail technical sketches. When reinterpreting this style its important to get the hard contrast black lines on white/yellow potentially paperlike backgrounds.
4) Da Vinci, L. (no date)
My interpretation
Based on the original design elements i chose to go for an art school/studio website very much inspired by the sketch/ just drawn aesthetic of design.

Art Nouveau
(1890-1910)
Characterised by the flowing, organic lines and decorative elements this short period happened just before world war 1 and was heavily inspired by cultural trade between east and west at the time.
5) Gaudi, A. (no date)
My interpretation
Based on the original design i took the organic lines element and reinterpreted it in order to create an Archeology website themed website. this seemed suitable since the style lends itself to bone like design structures.

Bauhaus
(1919-1933)
Bauhaus design is characterised by angular abstract shapes with bold clean lines, often associated with geometric art and minimalism, these designs focused on the simple functionality of the object or art piece.
6) Bohaglass (2019)
My interpretation
Based on the original design characteristics, I created a construction website, using the hard angular lines to form as a construction joint.

Pop Art
(1950s-1960s)
Pop art was mostly characterised by its bold use of solid colour and in certain images benday dots a technique using the colour and size changing dots across an image to give a certain effect.
7) Lichtenstein, R. (2022)
My interpretation
Taking the Bold colours and Benday dots i decided to reinterpret it as a musician/band website as i think it matches the type of energy a musician may want to evoke.

Avant-garde
(1950-Present)
Avant-garde art is known for breaking boundaries through new techniques and ideas, using technology and materials to challenge the average assumptions.
8) Malevich, K. (2016)
My interpretation
Due to Avant Garde being all about breaking the norms i decided to change up the menu to a diamond design that i imagine would animate so the page your on is central, rather than the stereotypical top of page menu design.

Sustainable/Eco-friendly
Design (1970-Present)
Modern Design and peoples lives as a whole have been highly influenced by climate change making us more aware of climate related issues and how to tackle them, this has inspired a range of artworks depicting this.
9) Chaliya (2023)
My interpretation
Based on the design characteristics of Eco friendly design; incorporating large amounts of greenery, nature and promoting sustainability i decided to create a Eco-friendly drinks company website.

Flat Design
(2012-Present)
Flat design is a relatively new design style characterised by its use of simple 2D shapes and solid colours to create graphics, made popular by companies like Apple.
10) Rise M. (2021)
My interpretation
Based on the characteristics of flat design i realised it lends itself quite well to 2d illustrations, so with that in mind I decided to go for a marketing company.
